Shakira is one of my favorite singers. I love her music, style, and originally. She is from my city in Colombia, which is Barranquilla. As you know Shakira sings in different languages specially English and Spanish. There are a couple of her songs that are in both languages, but even though they are the same songs, or better to say the same rhythm, the meaning changes a lot, to make it in other languages changes a lot what the writer of the lyrics want to say and transmit. The song that I chose to talk about is Objection, and in Spanish Te Aviso, Te Anuncio. You can find the video in http://youtube.com/watch?v=7DRt7TRzO0A that is in Spanish, and in English http://youtube.com/watch?v=l_QQOGLdOCo through the videos you can notice how they are pretty much the same at least the rhythm and music is the same. Lyrics are what make all of this different and make the contrast between them. Most of the time artist try to keep the meaning of the song, but that is really difficult and sometimes impossible. You can have one of the feelings that you want to show in the songs, but to transmit the same feelings and ideas is not going to be the same. I have try to do that, yeah !!! to transfer from Spanish to English, or vice versa, and let me tell you and is so difficult to do it following the music, you can do it, but if you try to sing it will be horrible.

Two Pieces of Art

This painting in some ways are the same, but by different artist and style. To the left The Mona Lisa by Fernando Botero a Colombian Painter, to the right The Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci. The idea of these two paintings is the same, a beautiful

woman that is standing to be paint, the colors are pretty much the same the only different is made the time of one of them. Even though they transmit the same idea, they show us beauty with different eyes and volume. In art we can find many paintings as these that share a few things, but at the same moment they show so much contrast and that is what make art different and special. The other different that we can found is the time between the painters one of them is a contemporary artist and the other one of the famous painters of the Italian Renaissance.

Fernando Botero is on of my favorite painters not just because he is from my country, but he show beauty with different emphasis in a world where to be thin is an icon of the beauty.

Two people I know

There are a lot people that is really important in my life, and definitely my mother is the most important. Her name is Marelvis Monzon. My mother is always in my heart and in my mind, it does not matter how far away I go from her. My mother is really sweet and patience, she always try to help people as much as she can. She did not finish school, but she is really smart and intelligent. Thanks to God wherever I go, I have always found people that does not take the place of my mother, but became something pretty similar, they became like a mother for me. In this case I met a wonderful woman in Milwaukee, the city where I arrived for the first time in the U.S. Her name is Barb. She finished not just her high school, but her college and became a teacher. Their lives have been really different in many ways, my mother had the opportunity to have three children while Barb could not have any. But now their lives have something in common and that thing it's me, yeah ! Now that I am part of their lives I found many things in common, they are sweet, smart, kind, and full of pure and sincere feelings. They are like one in my life, it is like have a mother all the time, here in every single second, a person that I can ask for help, and a person that listen to me and give me her advice, and then back in Colombia is my mother, my best friend. The only things that I can do is give thanks to God for this gift.

I think to able to take classes in a classroom full of technology is very good, I really like it, because it bring us all the resorces that we need at the moment to learn. In our world is necessary to know about computer and technology, so while we are learning grammar and other staff we are learning and getting familiar with computer and Internet resources. This also help us to study many things in a short period of time, because we can access online in the classroom, so most of the homework and things that we have to do, we can start preparing in our classroom. I wish more classes were like this one, for example I would like to take my Art appreciation class in a classroom like this, because in that way we can practice some of the staff that we have to do in class, and that means less homework to do at home, and means also learning , because I think that if a student have to many things to do he or she is not going to learn anything, because he or she just care to finish not to learn. So, a good way to teach is to be able to give to the student a way that they love what they have to do, and this kind of classrooms help teachers in this way.

If you ask me about one thing that I cannot live without it, I have to say that that thing is my phone, because I use it to talk to my family and friends that I cannot see as often as I want to. My family as most of you know live in Colombia, and I would like to see them every single day, specially my mother, but I cannot, so I have to find other ways to be in contact with them, and that way for me is by phone. I talk to my mother and my family twice per week. I always thought that phone were not good, and I always said that I was not going to be use it a lot if I get one, now I have to say that I was wrong, because is was not until I moved far away from my family that I realise that phones are really useful and in some ways necessaries in our lives specially for our jobs and some emergencies, and for our families as my case. But, sometimes we go to the point that we care a lot about it, you know if we have the high technology and that kind of thing, I hope not to get to that point.

The woman that is next to me in the picture is a really important person in my life. She is Barb Uschan, and she is the person whose heart and house have been open to me since I came to this country. She is not a real relative, or someone that my blood said is your family. But, she is more than that, because she has been giving me all the love and protection that just a mother can give to her children, yeah, she is like a mother for me, she is very special, sweet, funny, generous, and a mother as I said before.
During the time that I have been living here, she has given so much fun and joy to my life and even in the worst situation that I had lived in this country, she had been there.
Now, that I moved to Chicago for my studies we get apart a little bit, I wish I can see her every single day as I did before but that is impossible at least for the moment, but we still so close and important to each other as the first day that we met.

Hi Everyone !!!

This is something about me. I love art and always try to have art around me, pictures, paintings, sculptures, and many others things.
In my last vacations I went to Disneyland and I got this caricature done. It is great and expresses many things about me, one of them I already told you: art .But, can you noticed another one?
If you were thinking that I like or practice skateboarding, let me tell you, you are wrong because I even do not like it, but the real important thing and what this caricature shows about me is that I always happy and try smile to everyone, also that I love adventure and try new things, that is why I chose this design at the moment to have the caricature done.
